Overview
Delve into the rich history of timber construction in a region where it's deeply rooted in local culture. This unique 16-hour course offers comprehensive insight into the theory and practice of timber building. Each hands-on session is accompanied by a theoretical explanation, enhancing your understanding of CLT and glulam (mass timber) construction. Work on a small-scale mass timber pod to explore:
Handling structural elements
Creating hidden connections
Installing membranes, tapes, and profiles for airtightness
Ensuring proper hygrometric behavior
Waterproofing the structure

Course speakers
DeQuan Beasley – Assembly Manager TIMBERLAB
Steve Hessler – Holzraum System LLC
Eng. Jason Cattelino – Technical Consultant Rothoblaas USA
Eng. Clarice Cloutier – Rothoblaas
Jim Muhaw – Area Sales Manager Rothoblaas USA
Hannes Blaas – CEO Rothoblaas USA

Day 1
Assemble a timber building section, from foundation to roof. Gain hands-on experience with post bases, hidden connections, hold-down and shear angle brackets, and innovative connections. Practical assembly is complemented by theoretical explanations on the advantages of different connections, installation methods, resistance, stiffness, fire resistance, and ductility. Dive deeper into construction details and phases, broadening your understanding of timber structures.

Day 2
Complete the structure with waterproofing, airtightness, and wind tightness. Learn about acoustic concepts and the importance of proper membrane installation and taping for timber structures. Strengthen your theoretical knowledge through accompanying lectures.
